Yet another incicent of bad ice could have cost the Devils last night, they need to sort these problems, we must be bottom of the league for ice quality or very near it.
Its ice, water and cold How difficult can that be for Europes No 1 Ice Leisure provider

This problem also relates to the figure skaters, at 6.00am the ice can be quite badly gouged from the previous evening so the skaters don't even get a proper surface to start with!!!, on occasions I have witnessed staff members coming on with ice to 'fill the holes', surely PI must have guidelines on the standard of ice they should be providing. PI seem more than happy to accept the revenue that the Devils and skaters bring in, but they are not willing to provide an acceptable level of service/s throughout the facility.

At a recent Saturday morning figure skating club session members put on a mini-gala for parents - the ice was visibly in a terrible state and several skaters had near misses as a result. We've heard that there are quite different optimal ice conditions for hockey vs. figure skating; if this is true it's yet another reason for a two pad rink as currently we have the worst of both worlds.

Doesn't seem to be a problem at other rinks!?

I have frequently witnessed instructors going around the ice with buckets of water to pour into holes before it's safe for them to teach, hardly the standard expected for an'international sports village'

There have been numerous occasions when the ice has been sub standard quality with PI staff going onto ice with buckets of ice/water to fill in the holes. It seems to be a fairly regular occurrence and not a good advertisement for the company newly chosen to run the new rink by Cardiff Council

I find that the rink is very crowded when I bring my daughter to the rink on a Saturday morning at 7.30pm , and on a Thursday evening at 4.45pm. I am lucky that my employer has agreed an early finish for me on a Thursday at 4pm so that I can transport my daughter to the rink.
I try to bring my daughter to the rink more often during the holidays when I take leave in the afternoons. I think that the patch hours are very restrictive, and do not encourage skaters who may be able to attend at other times when their parents are not working.
I think that a two pad rink is an excellent idea. My daughter has trained at a two pad rink at Rockville in Washington DC when we have visited my in- laws in America. It was a pleasure to attend the rink and it was not paricularly busy.
I think that the Cardiff rink is used a lot by ice skaters, ice hockey players and the general public, and that a two pad rink could be sustained.

Ice quality was very bad this morning. The ice was full of puddles and holes. It restricted my daughter's lesson this morning. It is very disappointing when you get up at 6 am to drive to the rink and there lesson is not as it should be as a result of poor ice quality.

The ice is even worse this off season than in previous years. I am amazed that there has been no serious inluries to any of the rec players, figure skaters or indeed public skaters. Europes number 1 leisure ice providers have failed once more to provide a suitable safe facility. Is there something wrong with CCC, even they should be questioning the credibility of Europes number 1 Cowboy outfit for ice facilities
