The figure skaters also need a suitable changing area and warm up area to help to prevent injuries

A proper off-ice studio where they can train and practice jumps and manoeuvres, and work on programmes and presentation when ice is not available.

Cardiff needs two ice pads. There are many hockey teams and hundreds of figure skaters who regularly use the ice rink. We all want and need more ice time at more appropriate times (5.30am Saturday mornings is not appropriate for young figure skaters). 2 ice pads would be a huge help and as a capital city, we deserve this. There are only 2 ice rinks in the whole of Wales and we have a massive catchment area. We need much better facilities; off-ice area to warm-up and do off-ice classes, a decent cafe, separate bar, changing rooms, harness to aid figure skaters jumping techniques. Something has to be done or we will lose more skaters to Bristol, or other rinks.

I'm in agreement with stoptherot and figureskater1985, why shouldn't the skaters benefit from a similar set-up they have in Nottingham and Sheffield. CCC shouldn't be so short-sighted, it needs to be reminded about the success that figure skating and ice dancing has achieved in the past with skaters from the borough on a national and international level, after all the area is advertised as an 'international sports village', the pool and ww are excellent facilities, but a one-pad rink with a good looking facade falls short of what is really needed and wanted.

If there are specific examples these should be highlighted to CCC at every opportunity

Agree with previous posts regarding not only more ice time at more sociable hours but also off ice and changing room space plus decent catering at times we are actually there.
